The Curtain Room

2024 커튼이라는 사물은 일상에서 사생활을 보호하는 기능을 하기도, 상황에 따라 실내 장식적 포인트 요소가 되기도 한다. ‘막'의 이중적인 특징을 활용하여 어떤 대상을 강조해 보기도, 가려보기도 한다.

여러 사물이 제 할 일을 마친 후, 또는 새로운 여정을 앞두고 한곳에 모여 사람들에게 인사를 건네는 커튼콜 무대를 상상하며 구상하였다. 공연이 끝나고 배우들이 모여서 관객에게 감사 인사를 건네듯이 본인의 작품 속 사물들은 그들을 아껴준 지난 주인들에게 감사 인사를 표한다.


Curtains serve dual functions in everyday life: they protect privacy and, depending on the situation, act as decorative elements within interiors. Utilizing the dual nature of ‘a veil’ or ‘a screen,’ they both highlight and conceal certain objects.

This concept inspired an imagined curtain call stage, where various objects gather after fulfilling their roles or before embarking on new journeys to bid farewell. Just as actors come together at the end of a performance to thank the audience, the objects in my works express gratitude to their previous owners who cherished them.
